With the support of DDF, forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh received free legal aid
Since November 2023 with support from the Democracy Development Foundation, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor office has been providing free legal aid to persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The aim of this initiative was to enhance access to social support programs offered by the Armenian government for these individuals. It also seeks to improve the efficiency of state and community support programs in the regions and to present recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of current programs and future policies.
On October 14, the results of this initiative were presented to government bodies, civil society organizations, and project beneficiaries during an event held in Yerevan.
Legal aid was delivered through the engagement of contact persons and lawyers in Yerevan and all regions of Armenia. They established connections with forcibly displaced persons in their areas, conducted home visits, assessed needs, and prepared necessary documents for submission to various state bodies.
From November 2023 to the present, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor office has provided more than 1,967 legal consultations to forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh. As a result of these consultations, 444 letters and 3 requests have been sent to various state bodies, which can assist the Armenian government in planning and implementing more efficient and effective future programs for the provision of social services to forcibly displaced persons.
