A group of civil society organizations of Armenia presented a parallel report to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) regarding the fulfillment of the obligations undertaken by Armenia.

The report was prepared and submitted by the following organizations: Democracy Development Foundation, Disability Rights Agenda NGO, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor NGO, Protection of Rights without Borders NGO, Real World, Real People NGO, Transparency International Anti-corruption Center NGO.

In the report, the organizations address the issues of the right to an adequate standard of living, including the right to property, cultural rights, and the right to guarantee just and favorable conditions of work.

The report also addresses all aspects of environmental and industrial hygiene, access to palliative care and effective pain relief in Armenia and issues of ensuring the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of mental health.

Along with raising awareness about the issues, the organizations present proposals for the improvement of the legislation and practice of the sector.

The presentation of such alternative reports by civil society helps to focus the attention of the government and relevant state bodies on human rights issues and regularly make important changes in this direction.
